What Do We Mean By "MEMORY CLEAN" Programs?

Have you ever noticed how the very first time you run any program after having just started your computer, that programs starts a little slower than it does if you close it out and start it right up again?  Well, that's because the program never really released from memory.

When you started up the program, it grabbed some memory.  When you shut the program off, it never really let go of all the memory it was using.  When you start that same program right back up, guess what?  It started up faster because it never really let go of all the memory that it was using the first time.  Guess what else...  It grabbed some more...!  If you continue this cycle, you will eventually receive a message box stating something like, "Your computer is running low on virtual memory.  Shut down some programs in order to free up available resources and continue working."  Or your computer will "freeze up" on you.  Windows 2000 will give you this warning.  Windows 95 and Windows 98, in most cases, simply lock down.

You might recall seeing this phenomenon when you were previewing screensavers.  If you preview enough of them, or just one enough times, you will notice that your computer slows down more and more.  Like I said above, if you continue this cycle repeatedly, you will eventually lock down your computer.  This forces you to have to manually shut the computer down and suffer the Scandisk repair of files that may have been corrupted because you didn't go through the proper "Shut down" sequence.

Screensavers that do not release from memory completely are commonly referred to as "dirty" programs by developers.  All it takes to completely release a program from memory is one line of code.  But many, if not most, screensaver programmers don't know this and they have no idea what that line of code is or where to put it in the program.

All of the video screensavers designed by RAM-Shock Software are clean.  All programs release from memory completely when they are tripped off.  Even all of the different windows used to control the programs are clean.  You can preview them as many times as you want and you can leave your computer running for months on end and our screensavers will never cause your computer to "freeze up".

This is just one of many reasons that we say, "RAM-Shock Software makes "The best and most exciting high-definition video & multimedia screensavers available anywhere.  No brag.  Just fact."
